HELPING HANDS FOUNDATION TO HOLD FUNDRAISER FOR CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM CANCER
Goenka that works in association with the ImPaCCT Foundation of the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), is all set to have its annual fundraiser on October 20 this year at The Pallazio, Palladium Hotel, in Mumbai. The proceeds of the fundraiser are to go towards provision of nutrition and accommodation to children who are undergoing subsidised/ free treatment for cancer at the TMH and who are not from Mumbai. The fundraiser will offer a diverse range of high-end products to patrons including chocolates, clothing, jewellery, home-decor accessories and much more, by participants who wish to combine entrepreneurship with philanthropy. The initiative will see support from actor Imran Khan and other prominent names such as Reena Dutta and Farhat Khan who will display their art.

FUTURE GROUP-BRANDED PRODUCTS TO BE AVAILABLE AT RATION SHOPS IN RAJASTHAN
Kishore Biyani-led Future Consumer Enterprise Ltd (FCEL) and Rajasthan State Food & Civil Supplies Corporation (RSFCSC) have signed an agreement whereby the Future Group will sell multi-brand consumer goods at lowest prices at the 5,000 government-run fair price shops (ration shops) in Rajasthan, which are to be rebranded Annapurna Bhandars. Touted as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the public distribution system (PDS), the public-private partnership (PPP), named Annapurna Bhandar Yojna, is expected to broaden Future Group’s market horizon, while simultaneously enriching the retail experience in the remotest corners of the state with access to branded consumer products. This will be in addition to grains, sugar, kerosene and other regular products sold at the outlets.

DR RAGHUPATI SINGHANIA INDUCTED INTO ‘TIA HALL OF FAME 2015’
The Tire Industry Association (TIA), an international non-profit association based in USA, has announced its decision to honour Dr Raghupati Singhania by inducting the industry veteran and CMD of JK Tyre & Industries Limited into the TIA Hall of Fame 2015. This recognition comes to Dr Singhania in view of his exemplary contribution towards the growth and development of the Indian tyre industry. He is credited with having pioneered radial tyre technology in India in 1977. He is also known for having established six state-of-the-art research and development centres (five in India and one in Mexico) towards development of technologically advanced products, apart from holding leadership positions in several prestigious industry organisations. The TIA represents all segments of the tyre industry and has over 7,000 members from the USA and around the globe.

GRAMMY WINNERS TO PERFORM AT ‘JODHPUR RIFF’ THIS YEAR
Come October 23 and the Mehrangarh Fort will come alive with spectacular concerts by musicians and vocalists from around the world in what constitutes the Jodhpur RIFF, a five-day music fest held every year to coincide with Sharad Purnima, the brightest full moon of the year. Aimed at promoting Rajasthan’s folk musicians and vocalists by offering them an opportunity to interact and perform with international artistes, the popular event hosts a series of concerts and events in and around Jodhpur’s majestic Mehrangarh Fort, including innovative collaborations between artistes and an amazing fusion of local and international folk music. Among other attractions, this year’s fest will see Grammy winner and bassist Yossi Fine perform with Kheta Manganiyar and other Rajasthani musicians. Another Grammy winner, Wouter Kellerman, will bring a combination of traditional and classical compositions. Jodhpur RIFF is a not-for-profit partnership project between two leading heritage trusts: Mehrangarh Museum Trust (headed by HH Maharaja Gaj Singh II) and the Jaipur Virasat Foundation.

ZEE MEDIA TO LAUNCH GLOBAL ENGLISH NEWS CHANNEL
Zee Media Corporation Limited (ZMCL), a part of Essel Group, has announced its plan to launch a global news network in English with an India point of view. The media house has appointed veteran journalist Rohit Gandhi as the editor-in-chief, who brings with him a wealth of experience backed with stints in CNN, CBC and NDTV, to name a few. By venturing into English news telecasting, the group envisages extending its presence in the overall news genre and across geographies, including the international arena. Headed by Chairman Dr Subhash Chandra, the Essel Group runs over 70 TV channels under the ZEE umbrella and English daily DNA.
