Hailing from an entrepreneurial Marwari family, 26-year-old Vidisha Bathwal chose to showcase her business sense in Kolkata’s culinary world. The wife of Nikunj Bathwal, who handles Seven Star Steels Limited, a steel manufacturing facility in Orissa (as part of the Bathwal Corporation) and the daughter of Sunil Khaitan, a businessman who manufacturers and supplies materials to the paper industry (Shalimar Wires Industries), Vidisha found inspiration and strength all around her. After a degree in Business Administration from Lancaster University, UK, her interest in entrepreneurship was further sparked by watching her aunt Renu Modi, establish the Gallery Espace in Delhi.

Changing courses

"My family loves trying different cuisines, and every time we travelled together, tasting new foods became an important exercise." After having lived in London for a long period of time, when she returned to Kolkata in 2008, she missed her crepes, waffles and cheesecakes. This is when she resolved to introduce the cuisine she missed to Kolkata. "Food gave me an outlet to try my business instincts and also to fructify my passion. After a culinary extravagance in London, I wanted to introduce different flavours to this city." So started the Crepe Station—serving light and delicious waffles, crepes, cheesecakes and éclairs!
