In the good old days, the biennial trip to the
photo studios was an occasion worthy of a celebration.
Dresses would be brought out of the closet and
dusted and fluffed. Shoes would be shined so
as to make a military commander nod his head
in approval, and tight pigtails, fashionable
updos and stiff formal poses would be the order
of the day.
With the onset of digital cameras, those days
are now just a mark in one’s memory, what
with everyone happy to say ‘cheese’
at the camera and upload the pictures on to
our social networking site. Yet, higher incomes
and digital cameras haven’t taken away
the charm of a family portrait .
It is specifically to cater to these needs that
Deepesh Agarwal started his company Picturesque
Photographic Works. It’s still a fledgling,
barely a year old, but the idea behind it would
seem a fit in a world that increasingly wants
everything customised right down to the last
bolt.
