Marwari history has been replete with
silver—a metal that encouraged trade, brought luck, featured in ceremonies and created business. Three Marwari women talk about silver gif ting solutions as they recount the history of this shiny metal and their own experiences as silversmiths.

Giving and receiving is a matter of prime concern in a community where tradition and celebrations are held dear. Silver features readily in these rituals because of its propitious and auspicious qualities.
Silver fables
Silver, a valuable metal, is considered to bring good luck among the Marwaris. Its malleability and thermal conduction properties have lead people to believe that silver can bend their luck for the better, and bring about prosperity and peace!
In olden times, silver was abundantly used as a medium of transaction in the Marwar region. The colonial influence put an end to that and silver was replaced by copper, nickel and aluminium. Since then, silver has been viewed as an investment, and the rising prices in the market today confirm this trend.
