Bangur and Alka Bangur’s son Yogesh tied the knot with DIGJAM owner Siddharth and Madhushree Birla’s younger daughter Meenakshi a couple of months ago at ITC Sonar in Kolkata. The entire wedding had a traditional feel to it where the décor for the festivities like the Ganesh Pujan, Mehendi and the Mayera were primarily designed in yellow, red and green combinations. Complimenting the theme further, for every
function musicians and dancers had been flown in especially from Rajasthan to entertain the guests. But the icing on the cake was the plush Bangur lawns recreated to resemble a temple for the dance drama performance of the Radha Krishna Raaslila by Hema Malini. Yogesh stole the show on the Sangeet day by narrating his love story through the song and dance medium. The wedding was attended by the entire glitterati of the Marwari community including HRH Gaj Singh.

Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) took its annual
Regional Integration Event (RIE) to Jaipur in January 2010. Around 250 leading entrepreneurs from all the eight chapters of the country came together for a great learning exercise through experience and knowledge sharing by admired speakers. Interactive sessions, panel discussions and workshops were conducted and held by leading Indian personalities like Chetan Bhagat, Sachin Pilot and Vasundhara Raje among others. Heritage properties like The Rambagh Palace and The Jaigarh Fort played host to the three day event. Guests were
enthralled with an elephant polo match and the whose-who of Rajasthan graced the closing ceremony. Abhishek Haritwal, Communication Chair of EO Jaipur says it was the first time RIE was hosted in Rajasthan and it turned out to be a very royally indulgent experience.

The cream of Kolkata showed off their very
best at the ‘Celebrating Kolkata’ awards ceremony in the city recently. Hosted by Renu Roy of Spandan, designer Jyotee Khaitan, Sanjay Budhia of Patton and Prodipto Banerjee of the Calcutta Club, the annual event felicitates achievers who have excelled in their field.
The event began with a fashion gala which saw the prominent faces of Kolkata walk the ramp in Jyotee Khaitan’s creations. While the women showcased the designers’ sarees, resplendent with brocades, crystal
panels and pallus, the men wore beautifully crafted kurtas created by Khaitan. Eminent personalities who were honoured for their achievements were Rituparno Ghosh, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sanjiv Goenka, Harsh Neotia, Suvaprasanna Bhattacharya, Dona Ganguly and Indrani Haldar among others.
Mumbai’s contemporary art circuit
saw a happy celebration when Tao Art Galley turned 10 recently. The gallery, a presentation by collector Kalpana Shah, began in 2010. The society regulars were in attendance, only too happy to honour a place that celebrates modern art in all its forms be it photography, poetry, graphic design or sculpture.
The Harry Winston Polo Tournament, which recently
concluded in Delhi, saw a great deal of glamour with achievers from all walks of life dropping in to add their share of star power. Royalty had representation in the form of Yashodhara Raje Scindia even as designer Ritu Beri shared the limelight with Gurinder Sahni, Boutique Director, Harry Winston. A great day for the game, and an even better outing for the capital’s socialites.

horse racing event this season, Forbes India Million was held in Mumbai recently and saw the crème de la crème of the society as well as racing aficionados attend in high numbers.
