Managing human capital

Sanjiv Anand’s debut bookUnlocking Human Capital to Drive Performance (published by Tata McGraw-Hill Publishing Company), crystallises insights gained from 25 years of the author’s valuable experience as the managing director of Cedar Management Consulting International, LLC. The book was formally released at Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai, this November by Ajay Piramal (Chairman, Piramal Enterprises Ltd) to an august audience comprising CEOs and business leaders such as Nikhil Meswani, Neel Raheja, Sunil Alagh, Niranjan Hiranandani, Sameer Nair, Vikas Oberoi and Gunit Chadha among others. The handbook comes as a handy manual to company head honchos, given the many strategic and operational answers it offers to manage human capital, which admittedly has been adding to organisational woes in the backdrop of today’s ever-expanding markets. Also, at a time when human resources is seen as a leading factor in giving organisations the competitive edge, the book is likely to find resonance with the top management.

Style and the City

Stylefile, a premium lifestyle exhibition founded by Preeti Goenka and her friend Sumedha Saraogi in 2002, celebrated its eleventh edition this November at The Old Bungalow in Alipore, Kolkata. True to its promise of offering the hottest in haute couture and the best in lifestyle products, this year’s event added a fresh coat to its already glitzy profile with participation from some of the best artists and designers from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Baroda and Kolkata. Hosted in the form of a ‘night bazaar’ from 3 pm to 11 pm, it had the city’s fashionistas converge to update themselves with the latest trends and pick up irresistible pieces to spruce up their wardrobes and homes. Among the many offerings were exclusive, handpicked creations in fashion wear, jewellery, accessories and home décor options including paintings and sculptures.
