Rani Poddar’s unwavering dedication to socio-charitable causes has seen to the successful hosting of yet another edition of Puncham Bazaar, an annual exhibition-cum-sale initiated by her more than 30 years ago. Held at the Vivanta by Taj-President, Mumbai, the one-day event showcased trend-setting designer wear, accessories, footwear, jewellery, household items and much more by designers and NGOs from different cities—all for women. The show was supported by Mumbai-based industrialist Aneel Murarka. Among some of the better-known names to grace the exhibit-cum-sale included actor Neetu Chandra, who formally inaugurated the show, Vidya Thakur, Shweta Khanduri, Umesh Pherwani, Indu Shahani, Abha Singh, Jayawantiben Mehta and others. Puncham, as Rani Poddar’s socio-charitable organisation is called, is known for its tireless efforts to empower and uplift women, in addition to contributing to public causes and helping organisations such as the Indian Cancer Society.
